It’s particularly suitable for small to medium size networks (e.g. 2 to 10 users) as it saves the cost and complexity of owning a server. It’s also useful for organisations with remote or mobile workers. Another benefit of using the online server is that we take care of your anti-virus, disaster recovery and daily back-ups - so you don’t have to. The online server backs-up to another server in a different country so in the unlikely event of total server failure you can be up and running again within the hour, continuing with your data from the previous day. The back-up procedure is run in the early hours of the morning to allow users to keep working till 11 pm, and ensure the most up-to-date data is available in the event of server failure.

The online server is more than just a web-based solution. It provides users with a remote desktop on the server which mimics that on a local PC, and includes a Durell system, emails via Outlook, a copy of Microsoft Office and access to the local PC’s hard drive for the easy transfer of files. In addition each firm is provided with an impressive 5 GB of storage space, much more than some purely web-based solutions.

For added peace of mind you don’t have to worry about your data if you decide to terminate your contract with us for on-going support and updates. We don’t believe it is fair to keep your data on termination, so instead we install an unsupported single-user copy of Durell on your local PC and copy your data from the online server to it.

Users who store their data on their own server or computer can move to the online server option at any time, and vice versa. We can provide a demonstration of the online server if required, without obligation or a pushy sales pitch!

The online server costs are simple – for each user there is a one-off set up cost of £75.00+VAT and an ongoing monthly cost of £75.00+VAT. Additional storage on the server (although you may never need it) is just £10.00+VAT per extra 5 GB per month.
