Appendix 5 - Prevent Junk Emails Using Outlook Express

Do the following four steps to automatically delete unwanted junk Emails as they arrive in your copy of Outlook Express...

·        Click on and thereby highlight a junk Email that you’ve received

·        Click “Message” (on the file menu)

·        Click “Block Sender”

·        Click “Yes”

In the event that you subsequently wish to unblock a sender…

·        Click “Tools” (on the file menu)

·        Click “Message Rules”

·        Click “Blocked Senders List”

·        Click “Remove” (the highlighted sender)

Some junk email senders change the name (or prefix) on their Emails to sidetrack blocking (e.g. 0001@Annoying.Com then 0002@Annoying.Com, etc). In this case if you were to manually add @Annoying.Com without any prefix then all further Emails from that source would be stopped. To do this…

·        Click “Tools” (on the file menu)

·        Click “Message Rules”

·        Click “Blocked Senders List”

·        Click “Add”

·        Enter just the domain part of the email address, without a prefix (e.g.  @Annoying.Com)
