A summary of the main changes, additions and corrections in the latest release of the Durell Solutions product.
Invoice numbers can no longer be edited
Comments at the bottom of statements have been increased from one to two lines
The "Notes" field for advisers is now passed to Word, where it may be used to sign-off letters (e.g. with the adviser's name, title, qualifications, etc)
Added new screens for product types "Other / Marine, Yacht & Boat" and "Other / Marine, Commercial". All old data is retained and the new fields may be passed to Word for inclusion in marine policy schedules
Invoice data fields are now available for use in Word templates (i.e. so you can create your own invoices for fees, policies, instalments and adjustments)
Some example invoice templates have been included, which you can tailor by adding your own style, logo, etc
Accounts statements can now be produced by Policyholder as well as by Name (useful where the policy is paid via 3rd party finance)
Lines you don't want to appear on a statement can now be temporarily "deleted" (though they'll re-appear each time you re-click "Display")
Free format notes can now be added at the bottom of statements (e.g. "Make cheques payable to....")
When reconciling payments and receipts in the Cashbook you can now enter the Reason why an invoice was adjusted
A new "Invoice Adjustments Log" report is available (via the Reports button on the Main Menu, then the Accounts tab)
The Personal Record report for Business Clients now displays the correct phone numbers
Added extra decimal places for the NCD% and IPT % (so that if you enter amounts instead of percentages the figures remain in alignment)
Fixed the report for "Net Premiums Not Received"
Added a new address set for Finance Sources (e.g. Close Brothers) so they can be listed separately in the Aged Debtors Report
To re-value "on the fly" you can now double-click a fund on a policy's Funds screen, clear the Current figures for Unit price and Value, then click the "=" button. The system will now automatically retrieve the most recent price and its date from your funds (n.b. possibly updated via a data feed from Financial Express) and re-calc the total value.
Ledger Listing Report will now list all items in one or more nominal accounts at a date so it can be used to itemise the Trial Balance, Profit & Loss report, etc. It now also includes totals for each nominal at the end.
The Setup Nominal Accounts screen now has a scrolling view with a green binoculars search function.
The Regular Payments & Retainers program now has a standard green binoculars search function.
The Complaints program now has a standard green binoculars search function.
Safeguards have been added to the “Re-locate Documents” routine, so it should now be impossible for documents to get lost during this procedure.
Motorcyclist can now get quotes from age 16 (previously limited to age 17).

Funds Held report now correctly shows funds selected via “Only show funds names starting with...”
“Revalue All Client Portfolios” now correctly re-values clients with non-unitised funds.
When running the “Post Monthly Commission” (to post drip and renewal commissions) there is now a “File / Print” option on the “Life Commissions” screen to print a list of the postings.
The Document Viewer now stores all files in client folders within a single new folder called “Documents”. Existing images, emails and letters can either be left in “Scans” and “Docs”, or moved to the new combined one.
Regular Payments and Retainers now has a VAT calculator, a facility to print a list of all regular payments, an option to re-set the “Last Posted” date, and a new Scrolling View.
Setup Access Rights now includes context sensitive help for each individual right. There is also a new facility to print each user’s details showing all of their rights.
The Main Menu now displays Durell’s sales and support telephone numbers
The mail shot selectors for “Occupation” and “Business Activity” now accept values in upper and lower case.
On the screen for Sales Commission pay-aways the "No renewal commission for advisers" tick-box is now subject to an access right (and ditto for the introducer one).
The date for the Auto-Reconcile facility in the Sales Ledger (“Pile-of-Money” toolbar icon) now defaults to the current date instead of the invoice date.
The Setup Filepaths utility now automatically locates your version of Word.
The Web-link setup now has an option to print details of all currently selected records
It is now possible to change account set from the Accounts menu, without having to log-out. Moreover individual policies can be posted to different account sets (e.g. depending on whether they are in Euros, Sterling or Dollars, etc)
The insurer charge and insurer VAT fields on the General Insurance Premium screen can now hold negative values (i.e. to reflect insurer discounts other than NCDs)
The reference number of Renewal Amend Risk InsureCom policies can no longer be edited as InsureCom have complained that this causes problems with certain insurers.
A fix has been implemented to ensure all users have the same compliance dates and thus allow consistent reporting.
The fact find “View” button now displays a read-only version. To create or update a fact find you must use the “Revise” button, which now allows fact finds to continue being changed for a user-definable period (e.g. up to 7 days).
A new option has been added when posting commission for life, pensions, savings & investments to create a Sales Credit for the policy holder to contra against fees (which would be invoiced separately).
“Transfer of agency” has been added to the policy dropdown for “Source of business”
The on-line valuation option to print the list of downloaded funds no longer omits the final fund, and hence now displays the correct total value.
Three new product types have been added to Savings & Investments...“Life settlement”, “Account, structured for growth” and “Account, structured for income”.
Two new product types have been added to Pensions...“Occupational Money Purchase Pension” and “Occupational Final Salary Scheme”.
The usable fact find screen width has been increased from 580 to 650 pixels so that fields set to 100% wide fit an A4 page exactly. Also a Page Break item has been added to control the printed layout, and text may now be entered in paragraphs rather than a line at a time.
The fact find setup tool has been divided into a number of tabbed screens, with new facilities for fast preview, automatic backup and style changer.
