Set-up, Policy Stages
This allows you to
pre-define a list of progress stages for your policies. As a result you will be
able to sort and list your policies according to their stage (e.g. to check all
the “Pending” ones).
To set-up or edit policy
stages, starting from the “Set-up Policy Stages” screen…

Certain policy stages (e.g.
“Pending” and “Active”) will apply to all types of policy, while others (e.g.
“Matured” or “Surrendered”) may only apply to Life policies. The set-up allows
you to group your stages accordingly.
You will be able to sort your
policies according to the progress stage, but may find it additionally helpful
if the displayed scrolling list uses different colours for stage groupings. For
example, you might choose to display all finished policies (e.g. “Matured”,
“Surrendered”, “Sold”, etc) in blue, pending ones (e.g. “Pending”, “Cover Note
Issued”, etc) in yellow, and active ones (e.g. “Active, prompt renewal”,
“Active, no renewal prompt”, etc) in green.
Because policy stages are
user-definable they are subject to idiosyncrasy and spelling errors (e.g.
“Lappsed” instead of “Lapsed”). Moreover a user may create a number of slightly
different stages, all of which might be for fundamentally “Dead” policies (e.g.
“Matured”, “Sold” and “Surrendered”). There is no tick-box for fundamentally
“Active”, as these will be all the ones that aren’t Dead, NTU, Lapsed or
Proposal. When processing or listing policies (e.g. in the “General Insurance
Control Report”) Durell may need to know all truly “Lapsed” or “Dead” stages,
etc, or may offer these basic groupings in addition to the more laborious
option of selecting stages individually. Tick-boxes are therefore provided for
this purpose.
User-defined Box - Hide
Policies from the Scrolling View
The “Policies” button will
display all policies by default. However you can use its “Signpost” button menu
option for “Policies / Display” to “Hide policies with dead, NTU, lapsed or
proposal stages”. If you wish to hide certain policies which are none of these
four types (e.g. for Active ones that don’t require a renewal prompt) you can
use the “User-define” tick-box to select them.
You cannot delete a stage
that is currently in use. On the other hand, you can change a stage that is
currently in use, in which case all the policies at that stage will also be
updated (See also Policies, Scrolling List – Changing Stages).
