Different
Valuation Layouts
There are
different layouts for the Valuation...
·
Standard,
which is fully detailed
·
Alternative,
which is colourful and easier to read, but less detailed
·
Basic,
which is the least detailed
For everyday
use the “Basic” layout is likely to be best, as it does not contain details of
income or switching. Hence it requires the least amount of input work, and is
possibly the easiest for the client to understand. It is also the best report
to use in conjunction with Durell’s on-line valuation service, which only downloads
current units and values, matching this layout (i.e. without details of income
or switching).
The “Standard”
layout is the only one that gives a full transaction trail of all switches and
income, though some clients may find it overwhelming, and prefer the simpler “Alternative”
or “Basic” ones.
Valuation
Selections
On the “Print
Valuation” selection dialogue, shown below, you can choose to print for...
·
All
clients
·
Just
those with their mailshot selection marker set to “Y” (see Mail Shot, Bulk
Selection Of Clients )
·
A
single client, selected via the “>” button
You may
include or exclude policies by their stage (e.g. just include “Active” and
“Active joint” ones). The dropdown to the right of the word “Exclude” allows
you to select all stages of a given type (e.g. all active stages, which in one
go would include “Active” and “Active joint” while excluding everything else –
see Set-up, Policy Stages ). If you
use this dropdown then you must click the “Select” button to activate it.
Choose
whether to use the client’s search name (e.g. PUDD P) or first line of address
(Mrs P Pudd) in the title, and whether to include a Word template as a header
for the overall report – in which case you’ll need to use the “…” button to
select a template from your Durell “TEMPLATE” folder (e.g. “Valuation Front
Page” – see “Documents, Templates, New”)

Then...
·
Tick the
box to “Show report in black and white” if your colour printer cannot cope with
its solid colour pie charts
·
Tick the
boxes of the investment types to include (e.g. Endowments & Pensions)
·
Tick the
boxes to include fund details, and graphs (i.e. pie charts) for sector, type
and risk
·
Use the
“Show growth” dropdown to show compound or simple growth
·
Tick the
box to show the plan name (e.g. “9% Savings Plan”) for savings accounts (n.b.
instead of the account number)
·
Optionally
tick the box to include the text contained in the “Details” field on the first
screen of each contract
·
Optionally
tick the box to show contract enquiry notes, downloaded during any on-line
valuations
·
Optionally
tick the box to show the yield % instead of the unit price
Click
“Print” to print the whole report, including the Word header page, or “Preview”
to see it on screen first, with the option to subsequently print without the
header document.
You
should then get a report like that shown below…

…followed
by pie charts like that below…

Saving & Loading Preferred
Report Settings
If the
selections you chose for your valuation differ from Durell’s standard or
“default” selections, then you can save then as shown in “Reports,
Saving Selections”.
Risk Profile
The risk
profile will only work if you’ve first manually set-up your funds with “risk
factors”, as shown in “Set-up,
Fund Prices & Graphs”.
Yield %
The
“Yield %” figure is taken from the “Setup / Fund prices and graphs” screen, as
shown below.

Data
feeds such as Fin Express include yield figures for a few funds, but in the
majority of cases you’ll probably need to enter these manually, as shown below,
and described in “Set-up,
Fund Prices & Graphs”.
