Investments, Set-up

Although in Durell you can do most things “on the fly”, it is advisable to do as much setting-up as possible in advance of entering your investments, as this will result in a greater level of consistency…

Set-up Insurers

Set up your investment product providers (e.g. Prudential), starting from the Main Menu…

  • Click the “Set-up” button
  • Double-click “Insurers, (Life)”

See “Set-up Insurers, General & Life”.

Set-up Products

Set up your investment products (e.g. Prudential, Investment PEP), starting from the Main Menu…

  • Click the “Set-up” button
  • Double-click “Products”

See “Set-up, Products”.

Note that when creating new products…

  • The product “Type” is “Savings & Investments” (or possibly “Pensions”)
  • The actual “Product” will be something like “PEP, unitised”
  • The “Company set” should preferably be “Companies, Life & Investment”
  • You will need to select the company from within your company set (e.g. “Prudential”)
  • The “Plan name” should be the word “Plan” unless the product has a specific name
  • Just click the “=” button to generate a code automatically

If a company has a particular product called, for example, the “Rainbow Plan”, “Five Years Saving Plan”, “Flexible Plan” or “Freedom Plan”, then enter that as the product’s “plan name”. DO NOT enter the fund name as the product’s “plan name”.

Set-up Funds

Although you can create and maintain fund details manually, you are most strongly advised to subscribe to an automated data-feed service for investment fund prices. If you select the automated service you will have no setting-up to do. Otherwise, to set up your investment funds (e.g. the Prudential UK Growth fund), starting from the Main Menu…

  • Click the “Set-up” button
  • Double-click “Fund prices & graphs”

See “Set-up, Fund Prices & Graphs”.

Set-up Clients

Set-up your clients (e.g. Bloggs, F), starting from the Main Menu…

  • Click the “People” button
  • Click the “Starburst” or “New” button

See “Quick-start, Entering a Client”.
