Clients, Cut & Paste A Field

If you want to copy a field (e.g. The first address line, such as “Mr F Bloggs”) to another location (e.g. to the Salutation field), first you must highlight the source field (i.e. by clicking the leftmost end, then with the left button still held down, drag the mouse pointer over all of the data in the field that you wish to copy, then let go of the button), then…

  • Click the word “Edit” on the menu line at the top of the screen
  • Select “Copy” or “Cut” from the menu
  • Click anywhere on the target field
  • Click the word “Edit” on the menu line at the top of the screen again
  • Select “Paste” from the menu

Note that “Cut” moves the data from the first field to the second, whereas “Copy” duplicates it. A quicker method for doing the same thing would be to highlight the source field, then…

  • Right-click
  • Select “Copy” or “Cut” from the menu
  • Click anywhere on the target field
  • Right-click
  • Select “Paste” from the menu

A third method would be to highlight the source field, then…

  • Hold down the “Ctrl” key then tap “C” to copy, or “X” to cut
  • Click anywhere on the target field
  • Hold down the “Ctrl” key then tap “V” to paste

Deleting a Field

To delete an entire field, first highlight it as described above, then either press the “Del” key, or click “Edit” on the menu line at the top of the screen, then select “Del” in the following menu.
