Clients, Create Linked Records On The Fly

Sometimes you’ll want to create a link (i.e. between an individual client and his spouse) where the target record (e.g. the spouse) does not yet exist. In this case do as follows…

• Click the “>” button beside “Partner or spouse”. You’ll get a “Link Records” dialogue
• Click the “New” button
• Use the “Address type” drop-down to select the address set for the new record
• Enter a search name for the new record (e.g. BULLOCK S)
• Enter any address details, postcode, salutation, etc that you have for the new record
• Click the “Save” button to save the new record
• Click the “OK” button to confirm the new record is the one to use for the link

This procedure is particularly useful when entering addresses in the fact find. For example you could use this to enter the addresses of a client’s bank and doctor into appropriate Address Books (i.e. for subsequent re-use, rather than just as text in a single client’s fact find).
