Durell File Transfer
The file transfer program is intended to replace the
need for transferring files using FTP for the following reasons:
·
Reliability – The success rate of
transferring files using FTP is relatively low, especially with large files.
·
Security – FTP is not encrypted, whereas
the file transfer program encrypts all data before sending so any intercepted
data cannot be used.
·
Speed – The file transfer program sends
the data directly to the recipient, instead of requiring the data to be uploaded
and downloaded separately.
Requirements
·
The client must be using a version of Durell Software later than 3.4.0.
·
The recipient must be on a machine with
a static IP address in the following range:
82.219.210.160 - 82.219.210.175
(inclusive)
Instructions
1. The
recipient runs the file transfer program found at S:/FileTransfer.exe on the Durell server
2. The
recipient chooses one of the available ports from the drop-down menu on the
file transfer program. This should usually be left to its default value and only
changed when receiving multiple files or if the program crashed and left the
port it was using open, as this can render the port useless until the
workstation is rebooted
3. The
client runs the file transfer module from Durell
Solutions (found on the setup screen)
4. The
client clicks ‘Change’ and chooses the file he/she wishes to send
5. The
client sets the IP address and port to match the settings of the recipient
6. The
client clicks send
7. The
recipient accepts the connection
8. The
recipient chooses a location to save the incoming file
9. Once
the file transfer is complete the file transfer program can be closed
